Philippe Sarrey

Bio page 2

He take part in several expositions different art galleries while working part time for the museum of Modern Art of Paris and is firmly decided to longer make any concession “It is time for me to show my work, and the fear of criticism and failure make me find a second youth, which is beneficial. I think that I am ready.

He travels to Asia, sets foot in London in 1981 for 18 months and finally settles in Germany. He works for Swan Gmbh agency, does portraits and illustrations for the Laenderpress agency in Dusseldorf and collaborates with several alternative magazines. He follows and photographs the Moscow Circus for 6 months but an attempt to publish a book on it turns out to be a financial flop, but at least the pictures are there!.

In 1991, back in Paris, he does photographs for the Stills Press Agency, and the Plumes, as well as the Darix Togni circus.
Not interested in photos of ‘people’, he leaves the agency and decides thereafter to do solely personal work: scenery, illustrations, portraits, etc…

Experimenting with forms and colors, working with black & white seems more and more to be like ‘having one hand tied behind my back’.
